ABSTRACT
Spinal tumors are an unusual pathology, and highly incapacitating. Meningioma is the second most common tumor in the spinal region. Most of these are extramedullary intradural lesions that present a surgical challenge because when treated properly, healing can be achieved. Microsurgical techniques and diagnostic tools made spinal surgery the basis of treatment. We report the case of a patient with clinical signs of myelopathy requiring rapid surgical decompression of the cord. The pathology resulted in a meningioma that had an intra and an extradural component. We review the literature and present the differential diagnosis of this area.
