ABSTRACT
A descriptive observational study was carried out with the objective of determining the manifestation
of some indicators of Maternal - Child Health Program in Villa Clara during 2011-2012, in which,
registers of the Statistical Department and the Provincial Department of Maternal-Child Care
Program were checked. In this years, infant mortality rate decreased from 5,7 to 4,8 for each thousand alive, and its main cause was due to affections during perinatal period. There were no
direct maternal deaths. There was an increment of 10,5 % in late fetal mortality; low birth weight
decreased comparing this period with the previous one, and it was mainly due to preterm labors.
Mortality in children under five years old was reduced to 9 %. Maternal- Child Health Program in
Villa Clara shows important results in the analyzed indicators, which is in correspondence with firstworld
countries.
