Material and methods: Facial palsy patients between 1 and 90 years old; observations: annual and monthly distribution; specialty of sending, sex and age distribution; important background; symptoms, anatomic zone of injury, evolution and complications.
Results: annual presentation: mean and SD 40 ± 4.29; winter 56.6% and summer 28.7% predilections; familiar physician send 46% of cases; more frequently ages between 20 and 50 years old; diabetes mellitus was an important background in 23%, symptoms are related with motor affections; side distribution: left 52%, right 47.1% and 0.95 bilateral; by injured anatomic zone: zone I, 0.9%; II, 1.4%; III, 2.7%; IV, 12.9%; V, 21.8%; VI, 53.5%; VII, 4.9%; VIII, 1.9%; 34 diagnostic were observed, complete healing in 86% of cases between 2 and 8 weeks; complications: corneal ulcers, tearing, synkinesias and facial spasm.
Conclusion: Bell’s palsy must be an exclusion diagnosis.
