ABSTRACT
Cystic mesothelioma is a rare benign neoplasia derived from the peritoneal mesothelium. It represents an intermediate form between a benign adenomatoid tumor and malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. It is commonly observed in young women; its incidence in the pediatric population is extremely rare and therefore the information available is very scarce. This condition usually follows a benign biological course without malignant transformation, but some authors consider it a mesothelial neoplasia due to its high post-treatment recurrence.
