ABSTRACT
Gladiatorum Tinea or ringworm of the gladiators is a dermatophyte infection, in particular by
Trichophyton tonsurans, occurring in athletes who play sports involving direct contact such as rugby, martial arts and wrestling.
This dermatophytosis has epidemiological significance because of its high prevalence, which is cause for suspension of the athlete’s sports competition.
The management is with topical antifungal in located lesions, in disseminated forms are preferred the systemic antifungals, especially triazoles itraconazole and fluconazole, and terbinafine.
