ABSTRACT

For more than 30 years, science has advanced in all fields. The specialty of dentistry has not lagged behind, and it is one of the most favored branches with the use of laser for dental purposes. Its analgesic effect lies mainly in its vascular action, as it increases microcirculation, and in the activation of free nerve endings, which increases the pain threshold. Hence, the effect of this radiation is very powerful because it acts on pain symptom and not on the cause. Temporomandibular disorders are common stomatological problems that should always be considered an emergency situation, and are present in the dental clinic with increasing frequency.
