ABSTRACT
Cerebral microbleeds (CMB) are increasingly recognized neuroimaging findings in individuals with cerebrovascular disease and dementia. There has been substantial progress in the understanding of CMB. The developments of newer magnetic resonance imaging methods are more sensitive for the detection of these common lesions as markers for small vessel brain disease. In this section of imaging in clinical neurology, we describe the main features of the CMB and focus on essential topics as their identification and interpretation.
