ABSTRACT
A case of a woman with a history of resected sellar prolactinoma for over 15 years and major dental and gum disease, with no other medical history, which is hospitalized due to acute meningitis caused by Enterococcus faecium sensitive to vancomycin, with an excellent response to medical management.E. faecium, is a gram positive cocci, commensal, often found in nature and in the gastrointestinal tract.
It is an unusual pathogen of meningitis in immunocompetent individuals and no prior history of hospitalizations, although this case we think it nevertheless must be considered as a differential diagnosis of purulent meningitis in such patients to provide an appropriate empirical treatment.
