ABSTRACT
Elderly epilepsy is a serious health problem because of its high incidence which could be higher in the next years. Nevertheless
it is consider a rare disease at this age and it is often misdiagnosed. The etiology is frequently secondary to cerebrovascular
diseases and dementia, very frequent conditions in ancient people. Clinical symptoms are subtle and very difficult to differentiate
with other diseases. Clinical management is very complex. A wrong diagnosis and inadequate control of epileptic seizures in
elderly can produce serious and even fatal consequences. The present review has the purpose to know in more detail the clinical
characteristics, diagnosis procedure, and good management of elderly epilepsy
