ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic
inflammatory skin disorder
characterized by itch and
eczema. Clinical manifestations
and anatomical regions affected
vary with age. Different factors
contribute to its pathogenesis:
genetic susceptibility, skin
barrier dysfunction and the
individual’s environment. The
majority of the patients can be
treated successfully with basic
skin care measures and topical
anti-inflammatory agents.
