ABSTRACT
These comments to Larivée’s paper are meant to emphasize
some core features of Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory
(MI) in order to endorse a deeper discussion about its scientific
or political character. A closer look is set at MI’s expressed
purpose, its object of inquiry, the methodology employed
by its author, and the nature of the “theoretical” product of
the proposal. After analyzing if IM somehow meets “scientific
classification system” criteria, we conclude that it does not,
so it may be better characterized as a technical identification
scheme aiming, for the most part, to political endeavors.
