ABSTRACT
One of the most common and feared complications in critically ill patients is ventilator associated pneumonia. However, the application of preventive measures does not seem to correspond to this frequency and fear, mainly due to conflicting evidence regarding the effectiveness of such measures. In our country, the information on this disease is scarce. In this paper we analyze the usefulness of various preventive measures individually and as a group of measures, in addition to providing an overview of the current status of the disease in Mexico.
