ABSTRACT
The objective of this work is the spreading of biographical data of two empirical midwives in Ciego de Avila. Animated by the noble intention to transmit to new generations the history and development of midwives from Ciego de Avila and to contribute to human resources formation in the healthcare field for the values formation in the students from the nursing careers through the study of life and work of personalities that initiated this profession in an empirical form before the triumph of the Revolution. When reviewing the nursing history has attracted attention the lack of an extensive and inclusive study that understands its origin. For its elaboration, personal documents, interviews to patients and relatives as well as personal interview to the midwife Anatolia de Armas were consulted. Their results reveal that the health sector in Ciego de Avila counts on an historical bastion in the first stage of the formation of this profession. The conducted action by these midwives, their social contribution in the territory, is in correspondence with the nursing paradigm and simultaneously with a stage little disclosed of local history in Ciego de Avila.REFERENCES
