ABSTRACT
The corneal-conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia is a premalignant lesion of the ocular surface. It has a slow growth and low malignant potential. A group of changes occur in its evolution, ranging from mild dysplasia to carcinoma in situ, with severe dysplasia and anaplasia of the entire epithelium thickness, without exceeding the basement membrane. It may degenerate to squamous cell carcinoma, and multiple factors influence it. The risk factors involved include a prolonged exposure to sunlight (ultraviolet radiation), infection with human papilloma virus 16 and 18, human immunodeficiency virus, smoking and oil products. The case of a patient is reported. He was seen at the Oculoplasty Consultation, referred from his health area in order to be assessed due to an injury in the right eye, without a diagnosis of the condition. After being clinically examined, surgical treatment was decided, followed by a histologic study.
