ABSTRACT
Lower limbs aneurysms are misdiagnosed in 89% of the cases. These are confused as soft tissue pathologies and diagnosed as inguinal or femoral hernias. Their incidence is 1.7 cases per year. Case reports of venous aneurysms are sporadically presented. These aneurysms have been reported in superior cava vein, intracraneal, jugular, facial vein, axilar vein, porta, splenic vein; popliteal, in internal saphenous and femoral vein. Definitions (venous anomalies): a) Phlebectasia: a diffuse dilatation of one or more venous segments. b) Aplasia or hypoplasia: an absence or under development of venous trunks. c) Aneurysm: a localized area of venous dilatation that communicates with a main venous structure by a single channel, not associated with arterio-venous malformations nor contained within a segment of varicose vein. d) Avalvulia: an absence of valves in veins of one or both extremities.REFERENCES
