ABSTRACT
Takayasu arteritis is defined as an idiopathic inflammatory vasculopathy of large elastic arteries, causing
occlusive of ectasicos changes in the aorta and its branches (braquicephalic trunk, carotid, subclavian,
vertebral and renal) as well as in the coronary and pulmonary arteries. Presents a clinical case of
a male patient aged 20, with a medical history of coarctation of the aorta diagnosed 5 years ago and
treated with angioplasty. The patient also has systemic arterial hypertension secondary to this condition.
As well as ankilosing spondylitis of recent diagnosed and treatment. During hospitalization development
abdominal pain, concluding the presence of abdominal aortic aneurysm and right renal
aneurysm, and decrease of the left thoracic limb pulse, as well as primitive iliac arteries occlusion.
We performed aneurysm resection and interposition of an aortobifemoral graft. Given the clinical
condition, the laboratory, cabinet and histopathology results. We conclude that the patient attends a
overlap syndrome according to the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology for ankilosing
spondylitis and Takayasu Arthritis and Ishikawa criteria.
