ABSTRACT

Necrobiosis lipoidica is an infrequent disease, strongly associated with diabetes mellitus, its cause, however, remains unknown, has a distinctive clinical appearance, multiple treatment approaches have been attempted without consistent results. We review the clinical features, theories on pathogenesis, histopathologic findings, differential diagnosis, and reported therapeutic options.
