ABSTRACT
Pneumothorax is the presence of air in the pleural cavity. lt's most commonly in the right side, and in men of all the ages. lt is an extremely rare condition during pregnancy. In the British reports there's only 45 cases, however, the real incidence is unknown and could be underestimated. The most common cause is a bullae rupture or subpleural apical blebs dueto the increasing in breath ing requi rements during labor. The main maternal risk is the respiratory involvement, and the fetal risks are hypoxemia due to maternal involvement and the labor. This article presents the evolution of a Spontaneous Pneumothorax case and analyzes the characteristics that are relevant to perinatal outcome.
