ABSTRACT
Objective. To determine the latency in corneal transplants to be able to identify preventive schemes in postoperative monitoring. Material and method. Transplanted eyes of cornea in the HJM between January of 2003 and November of 2006 were eval uated, follow up of 1 year and determined the latency of the rejection (time in days between the surgery and the appearance of the rej ection), in general and by group of risk. The latency analyzed by average and intervals of 95% confidence. Results. 108 eyes, of patients with age between 4 and 90 years, 51.5% of femenine sex. The latency by reject was in average of 121 days, standard deviation ± 80 days. The latency did not vary significantly between the groups (p < 0.05). Conclusions. Although an ample dispersion in the sample existed, there existed a great frequency around the four post operating months. lt is necessary to make an analys is of sub groups to more early identify factors associated to a rejection.
