ABSTRACT
The incidence reported of the cecal volvulus described in the literature is low due to the fact that it is not typical, first for its
anatomical location and in second for its physiopathology. In general, for the lack of retroperitoneal fixation of the right colon that
predisposes to the axial rotation of the ileocolic union and it can present as a picture of acute intestinal obstruction that can or not
compromise the mesenteric traffic, with principal predominance in the fourth decade of the life in the feminine genre. The
treatment in general changes from the hemicolectomy, cecostomy, endoscopic decompression or the cecopexy having each of
them its precise indication.
