ABSTRACT
Introduction. Facial trauma is associated with important functional
and aesthetic defects; therefore a quick and correct management
improves the functional and aesthetic results.
Patients and
Methods. Retrospective, observational and descriptive study where
we analized the Medical charts of the patients who had posttraumatic
face reconstruction by plastic surgeons, between January
2006 until December 2009.
Results. We analized 51 cases of
facial trauma; men where more affected, half age was 29.33 years,
the main kind of trauma was blunt trauma (car crash), the most
common type of treatment was urgent surgery, the most common
fracture: orbital floor. We used titanium miniplates to fix them and
for the orbital floor we used titanium mesh. The operative time was
about 120 minutes average.
Conclusion. This, a retrospective
study; shows that here at Médica Sur Hospital, are seen the same
kind of facial trauma fractures that those reported in the literature
and that urgent repair made by plastic surgeons has great aesthetic
and functional outcome.
