ABSTRACT
Immunosenescence is an idiopathic form of acquired immunodeficiency
as a result of molecular and cellular changes common in
older people. This article will review the major changes in thymus
and innate/acquired immune response. We also discuss some immune
theories of aging. Various diseases typical in elderly (infections,
cancer, chronic and degenerative diseases, osteoporosis, etc.) have
their roots in an aged immune system.
