Necrotizing fasciitis by streptococcus of group G: Case report

ABSTRACT

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly progressive infection that affects the skin, subcutaneous cellular tissue, superficial fascia and occasionally deep tissues. All cases have histic necrosis and severe systemic toxicity. A case of male, 10 years old, with complex congenital heart disease, is presented. He suffered an abdominal trauma, and seven days after developed abdominal wall fasciitis. He required surgical management; Group G Streptococcus was recovered from purulent secretion. Risk factors were chronic hypoxia, malnutrition, immunocompromise and abdominal injury
