ABSTRACT
Recently the action of the symbiotic, probiotics and prebiotics has
been studied. Their effects are intestinal and systemic through immuno-
metabolic mechanisms by what they have been studied in
cancer, allergies, inflammatory intestinal disease, hepatic cirrhosis,
pancreatitis and sepsis. Is for this that probiotics and prebiotics must
be considered inside the therapeutic nutritional arsenal. In spite of
the fact that the clinical evidence is limited, the trend of the results
obtained in different studies is positive in relation to the impact on the
evolution of different diseases.
The aim of this work is to analyze the current concepts of probiotics,
prebiotics and symbiotic and their utility in the clinical practice.
