ABSTRACT
In Mexico are four Sul/Big mixtures: Glib/Met, Clor/Met,Glib/Fen and Glim/Met. This last one was used for evaluate the effectiveness of this combination in comparison to Sul/Big. Our study included 108 patients who received an equal doses of glimepirida-metformina instead of Sul/Big. We excluded patients that had been used Glim/Met for the last two months, but we included those whose HbA1c levels were between 8% and 10% for the last six months, and finally, patients who developed ketoacidosis or with glycemic over 250 mg/dL were eliminated. The age average was 61.47 years in women and 58.55 in men; the fasting glucose average was 166-mg/dL for both groups. All the patients presented cholesterol seric levels and triglycerides seric levels over 200 mg/dL. We proceeded to evaluate four bimestrial periods (0,1,2 & 3), in which we founded that, in the beginning of the study, the plasmatic HbA1c levels showed an average of 8.9% and during the fourth period (17th- 24th week) the result was a 7.5%, it means a diminished of 1.4%.REFERENCES
