ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is to present a brief analysis of the different elements involved in the organization and administration of information and knowledge, as related to the decision processes in a health system context. First, the paper describes the different models related to scientific production; the information life cycle; and the communication model in the health sciences. The elements involved in the knowledge administration process are then described and focused on (1) the information source; (2) the end-user/client; and (3) the communication channel between the information source and the user. The paper describes the main barriers found related to the access and use of scientific and technical information and proposes some reflections on the application of knowledge in our health system.
