ABSTRACT

The concept of solitary pulmonary nodule (NPS) corresponds to an increased radiographic density, generally spherical, well demarcated, measuring less than 3 cm in diameter, its management requires a multidisciplinary evaluation that emphasizes the stratification of malignancy and allow risk-benefit confrontation. For this, the diagnostic approach to a patient with NPS should be based on an estimate of the chance of cancer, in this way, when the possibility of cancer is low, the node can be followed by high-resolution computed tomography every three months the first year and six the second. If high suspicion of cancer, surgical resection is justified, ideally by VATS.
