ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to asses the role of body dissatisfaction and influence of peer groups on influence of advertising, influence of social models and dieting behaviors in 130 female students. The students completed the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), and the Questionnaire on Influence on Body Shape Model (CIMEC in Spanish). The mean age of total sample was 19.4 (ED = 1.3) years. The participants were divided in four groups accordance with scores obtained in the BSQ and the CIMEC. The data suggest that the influence of peer groups could be an important factor in interaction with body dissatisfaction, in the natural development of eating disorders.
