ABSTRACT
Emilio Ribes’s essay on “Psychology as a basic science” is
discussed in terms of three central propositions, around
the critical analysis of the existence of a discipline with a
single objective, methodology and application. The paper
proposes a collective exercise of the critical use of the language
and to avoid at all cost committing categorical mistakes.
Based on other contributions on behavior analysis
(Harzem, 2002, 2004, 2005; Mechner, 2008), an example of
the adoption of the authors’ proposal is offered.
