ABSTRACT
The cleft lip and cleft palate patients present specific, anatomical alterations accompanied by low growth and development potential of the maxillofacial structures that, depending on the phenotypic manifestation; can be moderate or severe. That is why these patients need an integrated and individualized program of control and stimulation during the growth stage. It is well known that the secondary problems caused by surgical procedures may increase these alterations, making orthodontics therapy necessary and important to achieve the correct balance and a harmonic and satisfactory result. This work presents the general orthopedic and orthodontic control and treatment used at the «Dr. Manuel Gea Gonzalez» General Hospital of Mexico City that we recommend and are indicated to achieve optimal results in different stages during development and evolution of the integral treatment.
