ABSTRACT
Deep venous thrombosis is a pathology requiring an exact and quick diagnosis that allows applying the right the therapy to the patients as soon as possible. This will make possible to avoid future complications that can be fatal, and at the same time, largecosts and the potential danger of applying this therapy to those that do not have this disease. The phlebography is the gold standard in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis but it has limited use, since it is invasive, expensive, and contraindicated in certain cases. This article presented the noninvasive tests used at the present time for the diagnosis of the deep venous thrombosis (Continuous wave Doppler ultrasound, B-mode ultrasound, Echodoppler and Echodoppler-color), their respective accuracy and their advantages and disadvantages. The noninvasive test of choice is the serial B-mode Ultrasound with compression as part of a diagnostic strategy that includes the D-dimer and the clinical probability.REFERENCES
