ABSTRACT
Introduction: Risk factors for preeclampsia-eclampsia include cardiovascular and metabolic syndrome risks. Objectives: To identify the cardiovascular and metabolic syndrome risk factors in a population of pregnant women at risk of preeclampsia-eclampsia. Method: A descriptive crosssectional study in Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara, in 2010. The sample consisted of 181 pregnant women who had at least two risk factors, a survey including risk factors was carried out by them, depending on the individual risk; follow up and early diagnosis of serious and emerging preeclampsia strategies were conceived. Results: Patients at both extreme of age represented 58,01 % of the total, with 105 women, prevailing advanced maternal age subgroup: 69 (38,12 %). Cardiovascular risk was result of the low calcium intake, the risk of thromboembolic disease, sustained stress, and waist-hip ratio greater than 0,85. The main risks of metabolic syndrome were waist circumference greater than 88 cm and high levels of triglycerides. Conclusions: It can be stratified by using the risk approach, depending on the characteristics of the pregnant women who were studied; also it facilitates identifying cardiovascular and metabolic syndrome risks in pregnant women with preeclampsia risk.REFERENCES
