ABSTRACT
Projective tests are a very useful tool to explore people’s
emotional world. We can find the Thematic Apperception Test,
in which visual ambiguous images are presented to the subject
under a specific theme and then asked to tell a complete story
about the presented image, expecting his/her analysis and
interpretation; Murray’s Thematic Apperception Test, Symonds
Picture Story Test and Bellak Children’s Apperception Test,
were the pioneers in this field and are the most used now a
days. A very few instruments directed towards specific sectors
have been derived from them, but none referring to disability
themes. Based on the Children’s Apperception Test structure
has being designed in this work addressing the motor
impairment theme through 5 scenes related to family
environment, peer interaction, school, medical attention and
rehabilitation, both human and animal version. The test was
applied to 34 patients from 6 to 17 years old; all of them belong
to neuromuscular disease clinic, Centro de Rehabilitación
Infantil Teletón, Estado de México, finding it a very useful tool to
explore the children’s own perception about their motor
impairment and at the same time to explore the way they live in
their daily environments.
