ABSTRACT
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating process of the central nervous system which can have focal, motor, sensitive and cognitive manifestations. Early onset SM occurs before 16 years of age, being more frequent in men than in women. Genetic and immunologic factors are involved in triggering the disease, although no specific agent has been outlined.
Diagnostic and therapeutical approach can be difficult in pediatric patients, which is why adult diagnostic criteria has been adapted, resulting in postponed diagnosis, inadequate treatments and poor prognosis for children with this disease.
