ABSTRACT
Infectious pharyngoamydalitis in pediatrics is a common disease; it represents about 6% of clinical practice. In most cases the etiological agent is viral, in which case antibiotics are not indicated to avoid bacterial resistance, even so, infection by beta –hemolytic streptococci is common and should be considered. It is important to conduct a proper physical examination to determine either the viral or bacterial etiologies and to inform and warn against auto medication.
