Impact of the Implementation of Teaching Strategies on Students´ Learning of Hygiene and Epidemiology Specialty

ABSTRACT
Background: the need for students to "learn to learn" is a global concern in the educational field and has been designated by UNESCO since the 80s in Delors Report as one of the four pillars that should support the education of XXI century man. Objectives: to facilitate the learning process and develop study skills in students of Environment and Society subject in the specialty of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Health Sciences School of Mayarí. Methods: an intervention strategy based on the application of a diagnosis was made, to a sample of 20 students with the use of empirical methods with different learning modalities that were implemented. Results: the results of strategies were different. Regarding the cooperative strategy, only 20% of the students obtained excellent evaluation at the beginning, and 95% at the end. The results of the inquiry strategy showed that 15% of the students had high marks at the beginning, and at the end increased to 80% of the students. In the case study strategy, at the beginning only 20% had excellent assessment, at the end 80% of them obtained those results. Conclusions: learning strategy designed for learning to learn of Environment and Society subject contributed to the acquisition of knowledge and thus increase the quality of the students´ training of Hygiene and Epidemiology specialty.REFERENCES
