Bibliometric study of Revista de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana in the period 2005-2009

ABSTRACT
This research is aimed to describe the behavior of the scientific production of Havana Journal of Medical Sciences by a bibliometric study in the period 2005-2009. For the bibliometric study it was used the following indicators: typology of articles, author productivity, productivity of institutions, and productivity analysis by theme and topicality level of documents. The results obtained in the research are quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated and illustrated by tables and graphs. It is significant the gradual increase in the number of articles published, 19 in 2005 to 58 in 2009, it is ratified the general trend regarding authorship in scientific journals, the increase of articles written by various authors, as demonstrated in this study in which 136 articles were written by two or more authors representing 69.7% of total articles published. It is concluded that the journal fulfills its mission of spreading the intellectual production resulting from the research work of health professionals, the Editorial Board is recommended to pay attention to the topicality level of citations in articles.REFERENCES
