ABSTRACT
Bowel vasculitis can occur in the context of a systemic vasculitis or in association to Crohn's disease. It has recently been described the mesenteric inflammatory veno-occlusive disease (of unknown cause and limited to the mesenteric veins) as another form of intestinal ischemia; the presentation events are mesenteric venous thrombosis and intestinal infarction. The case of a 44-year-old patient who was admitted with abdominal pain and underwent surgery with a 135cms jejunal resection is reported. The pathological study showed intestinal hemorrhagic necrosis due to a mesenteric inflammatory veno-occlusive disease (mesenteric vasculitis). The awareness of this disease and its early diagnosis enabled a proper treatment and the survival of the patient.REFERENCES
