ABSTRACT
Pityriasis alba is a very common benign hypopigmented condition in children living in Latin-American countries. It has a
chronic self-limited course and no relation to internal diseases. Characterized by asymptomatic white blotchy and scaly plaques
in skin exposed to sunlight.
Likely associated with the atopic phenotype;
prophylactic and therapeutic measures include
hydrating and emollients, although results might not be satisfactory since there isn´t any definitive treatment for this disorder.
Due to the development of the disease, most parents are concerned about the uneven pigmentation that results in non-aesthetic
appearance with medical and social implications.
