ABSTRACT
Burnout syndrome is a serious problem that occurs with increasing frequency in health care and that impacts the performance and quality
and safety of care. This syndrome is a paradox of health care: the health professional becomes ill at the same as it heals the patient. Burnout
syndrome is defined as a failure and feeling tired or worn existence result of emotional stress workload and resources. It begins with
an emotional charge and the corresponding stress leads to depletion of the subject, who starts having distancing behaviors and cynicism
with the person attending, creating doubts about the competence and professional performance. Burnout syndrome is a multidimensional
concept, accompanied by physical symptoms and emotional components identified, which are emotional exhaustion, depersonalization
and reduced professional accomplishment.
