ABSTRACT
The reason why three of the articles chosen to be presented in this section of continuous medical education, are concerning to surgery in the newborn or dealed with diagnosis and pre natal treatment was because in this stage of human being’s life is where greater progress has been done in surgery. It has been seen surgery in uterus lately in order to treat problems which beforehand nobody could even imagine. There have been advances in surgery for pediatric patients to approach unsuspected diagnosis. It is suggested to the interested ones to refer to the original article “El diagnóstico prenatal y la cirugía in utero” (Pre-natal diagnosis and in uterus surgery). Appendicitis and intususception or small bowel invagination are very odd in newborn, such articles will be useful ones to those physicians taking care of patients about this age, so they can make a differential diagnosis to submit their patients, if such is the case, to specialized medical facilities for their appropriate treatments. The rest of the articles are concerning frequent conditions, as for instance the accidental ingestion of coins as in the case we present, which, in the other hand, it is not common to keep in place in the digestive tract during such a long period of time urging to perform an exploratory laparotomy to solve the case. Physicians should remember that sinusitis can give place to severe periorbicular cellulitis. It is also presented an article about an investigation study to prove the usefulness of the sedation in conscient state to perform a lumbar puntion in nursing children; procedure which is very frequent and not rarely failed at the emergency room infectology and neurology.
