Osteoarthrosis and associated chonic pathologies in patient of a primary care unit

ABSTRACT
Objective: to determine the clinical typology of the osteoartrosis
(OA) and its association with chronic diseases.
Methods: cross sectional study of 101 patients diagnosed with
OA according to criteria of Rheumatology American College,
types of OA was done. Sociodemographical variables, nutritional,
medical attention and associate chronic pathologies were measured.
Results: up to 68.3 % of the 60-year-old population presented
some type of OA with significant differences for women (p = 0.001).
The 52.5 % of the patients presented some type of obesity. The
most frequent OA was on knee (74.3 %). It was observed that
35 % of all the cases presented arterial hypertension and 15 %
diabetes mellitus. The follow-up medical attention was carried
out by the family physician in 84.2 % of the cases, the minority
was seen by a specialist.
Conclusions: the feminine was the most affected genre by OA.
The most frequent type of OA was on knee related to major
degree of obesity.
