ABSTRACT
Objective: To establish if the pregnancy is associated with the development of overactive bladder.
Material and methods: Study with cross-sectional design to compare the proportion of cases of overactive bladder in pregnancy women with the proportion of cases of overactive bladder in non pregnant women. The diagnosis of overactive bladder was realized according to a diagnosis questionnaire «VH8».
Results: The prevalence of overactive bladder in pregnancy was 88%; prevalence ratio 4.97 IC (2.6-9.3); odds ratio 35 IC (11.6-104.9). The differences between the groups were statistically significant.
Conclusion: In this study, we found that the overactive bladder displays a high prevalence in the pregnancy. Statistically significant association between the pregnancy and the development of this pathology exists.
