ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to describe the activities of male and female roles that generate greater satisfaction to each of the sexes. We worked with a probabilistic sample of 270 participants (135 men and 135 women) with a mean age of 43 years, the city of Toluca. The instrument was administered "Satisfaction with contemporary roles", consists of 40 statements that assess how much satisfaction from these activities will. The applications was made Individually in workplaces and educational in approximately 15 minutes per participant. Both sexes believe that there are three important aspects to achieve satisfaction with the role they play, which are: trust and family support, acceptance and independence, however, these factors will generate more satisfaction to men. Also, gender differences indicate that the activities that produce satisfaction to men are: bring the family economy and be providers. Conversely, for women to generate more satisfaction: caring family, be faithful, sharing housework, and be loving mothers. Therefore, although the roles have a psycho-socio construction, with these findings, it appears that the biological basis resists disappear, since the activities of the individual roles of each sex been kept despite the passage of time and psicosocioculturales changes. We recommend psicosocioculturales deepen the foundations of roles, because there is probably the beginning of changes in living men and women, which suggest that in a period of time not too long, there may be less competition and greater complementarity between them, they are likely to generate different lifestyles that promote a more favorable quality of life for each of the sexes.
