ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to provide evidence of how the protocol analysis and the task of the Tower of London (TOL), may be taken as methodological strategies for studying human behavior. A study was conducted which compared three versions of the TOL. Verbal reports collected on the solution of the task were considered as complementary data to performance. The results showed differences between the traditional TOL and two modified versions. The analysis of verbal reports suggests that the TOL modified, being the easiest to solve promoted verbal reports relating to planning of an effective solution strategy. The evidence suggest that both the analysis of protocols such as the TOL are two strategies that can be used reliably to study of the human complex behavior.
