ABSTRACT
The urogenital prolapse is the
descent of the pelvic organs
beyond their usual position.
This pathology is found mainly
in older, postmenopausal and
multiparous women. One
sixth of patients who have
urogenital prolapse, mainly
uterine prolapse, may have
some degree of hydronephrosis
due principally to distal
compression of the ureters, it
is infrequent that they develop
severe hydronephrosis. If
hydronephrosis is left untreated
it can progress to an acute renal
failure and thus to a chronic
renal failure. Hydronephrosis
is the most serious complication
of urogenital prolapsed, usually
it is corrected by the surgery
of urogenital prolapsed and
reverses spontaneously in most
cases. It is necessary a prompt
diagnosis and treatment to
avoid major complications for
patients.
