ABSTRACT
There are three labs having different purposes in the Radiobiology Department of the Centre for Applied Technologies and Nuclear Development (CEADEN). That was the reason for designing a Quality Management System (QMS), according to NC-ISO 9001:2008 and NC-ISO 17025:2006 standards and including all the occupational safety and health requirements (OSH) required by the standards and regulations established for each of the activities. The design took into account the interaction between laboratories and, whenever possible, documents were merged to eliminate duplication. To this end, processes were identified, occupational health and safety standards and legislations were reviewed and a QMS document structure was established. All this is subordinated to CEADEN QMS structure. The existing documentation was reviewed and revised and new documentation was prepared including aspects related to OSH. The QMS procedures and records related to Biosafety and Radiation Safety were prepared and / or included. Communication actions were also taken, which allowed not only to inform but to involve staff and managers in the process of implementing and maintaining the system.
