ABSTRACT
This research was mainly aimed at describing the possible perception of psychological violence at work as well as to find out presence of depression symptoms and indicators of well-being in HIV carriers. It was carried out a descriptive cross sectional study by a non-probabilistic sample. Within the selection process, it was included VIH carriers who attended consultations between January and December 2010. The sample was made up with 102 subjects. The average age was 36,8 years old; the school median was 10 degrees and the year median since they were diagnosed with HIV was 5 years. The chosen participants were explained the objectives, procedures and study assignments and were also requested authorization to be included in the process. They were assessed with a questionnaire about psychological Well-being, the Leymann Inventory of Psychological Terrorizationand Zung’s Depression Test. The results of the possible perception of psychological violence show small values in the instrument indicators; the group seems to be mentally sane. When being tested on depression symptoms, the subjects categorized as depression-free and low depression prevailed. In order to go deeper into the conceptual frame in a better understanding of the interrelation among work risk factors such as violence and HIV carriers’ health, it will be highly important to apply mixed methods integrating both quantitative and qualitative investigation.
