ABSTRACT
A paraneoplastic syndrome of leucocytosis and hypercalcemia, has been associated with squamous carcinomas, in which has been demonstrated the presence of granulocytes and macrophages colony stimulating factors, interleukin- 1 and tumor necrosis factor. A case of a 51 years old man with penis squamous carcinoma and metastasis in groin lymph nodes, associated to hypercalcemia anatomic manifestations (nephrocalcinosis and pulmonary metastatic calcification) and bone resorption, is reported. The neoplasic cells were positive at immunoperoxidase reaction for tumor necrosis factor. We propose that this factor secretion by neoplastic cells, may be responsible for the hypercalcemia- leucocytosis syndrome.
