ABSTRACT
Defining parenthood is not easy because there are conceptions related only with a responsibility that involves the maintenance and do not consider the interpersonal relationship that exist between parent and child. This interaction between parent and child can be enjoyable, recreational and it´s the moment where the experience help to built everyday parenting. When parents have a handicap child, their expectations change and they go through a process of adaptation, which it can be difficult because it involves processes that they have not seen as a possibility, because the son or daughter is a different person that they have expected. However, it can conclude that not everyone lives the same process and the same suffering, it will depend on the tools that parents have to adapt to the situation and how they get involved with the child, especially when they are given information, guidance and appropriate support in managing the problem.
